About

North of Boston Studios, or NoBS, is J Rodricks' design, construction, and production company on the North Shore of Massachusetts.

Years ago, when J was a recent art school dropout, he got his first of many amazing opportunities: helping build themed immersive environments at Disney World in Orlando. After that, he spent years on the road building large-scale sets around the country. Since then, the shop has made props and sets for film and TV, including Denzel Washington's The Equalizer, Casey Affleck's Academy Award-winning Manchester by the Sea, Jeff Bridges' R.I.P.D., Frances McDormand and Bill Murray's Olive Kitteridge on HBO, Hulu's Castle Rock, and more...

On the construction side, NoBS has designed and built restaurants, coffee shops, offices, and stores across Boston and the North Shore, from Barrel House and Atomic Coffee Roasters to Hatch Fenway and Series. NoBS has fabricated for brands like Nike, Puma, Reebok, Vans, Bodega, Concepts, Converse, and Stride Rite, and has worked alongside world-renowned artists including Kehinde Wiley and Matthew Barney.
